As a leading construction company in Surrey and London, we are dedicated to improving sustainability across our projects. To help offset the timber we use, we’ve teamed up with Ecologi to fund tree planting initiatives globally.
These trees work to absorb carbon dioxide, reducing the impact of global warming and climate change. With each loft conversion we complete, we plant 25 trees and remove 0.5 tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere, helping to neutralise the carbon footprint of our team.
Reforestation is the process of returning areas of land that used to be forested back to their forested state. In many parts of the world, humans have damaged ecosystems by cutting down trees and other vegetation. When this happens, not only are the trees lost, but so are the ecosystem services they and the wider ecosystem provide.
The reforestation projects Ecologi supports help to reinvigorate ecosystems through planting native trees and working with local communities to ensure the ongoing, sustainable use of the land. Through this approach, reforested land can bring a multitude of benefits to local people as well as local wildlife.
The healthy ecosystems being supported by the reforestation projects that Ecologi funds provide many benefits to the planet. Aside from the carbon the trees sequester over their lifetime, these projects help to stabilise soils, preventing landslides and desertification. They also help to create cooler and damper microclimates that help to mitigate the impacts of global climate change. And they create vital habitat for native species, boosting biodiversity.
